Summer Picnic Apple Basket - Tutorial

I did this basket pattern a couple of years ago as a make & take project at some of my parties.  I thought it would make a cute gift if I used the NEW Summer Picnic Designer Papers.

Here we go!!

Supplies needed:

6x6 piece of Designer Series Paper, scraps of Whisper White, Real Red and Wild Wasabi

1x8 strip of Coordinating Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Write Markers in Real Red, Garden Green and Chocolate Chip

Paper Cutter with Scoring Blades, Paper Snips, Both Tag Punches, 1 1/4, 1 3/8 and Scallop Circle Punches, Stapler.

Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Linen Thread, Small Cello Bag

Take a 6x6 piece of the Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper and cut it to a 6x6.  Score it at 2" and 4" both ways.

Then take your Paper Snips and cut up the score lines on two opposite sides.  (Sorry about the upside down picture...LOL)

Pre-fold up on all the score lines.  This picture shows how the two outer squares fold over the middle square on both sides.

Fold up the cut sides having the outer squares create a "V" around the middle square, place your 1x8 strip between the "V" and the middle square and staple the whole thing.  Repeat on the other side

Notice how I have the staple legs on the outside of the basket.  You will be covering them up.

Use your Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the Apple stamp from the Tart & Tangy Set.

Stamp this onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and repeat the process so you have two of these.

Punch the images out using the 1 1/4" Circle Punch, use the punch upside down for perfect punching.  Also punch two circles from your Real Red scrap using the 1 3/8" punch and two Scallops from the Wild Wasabi scraps.

Layer the apple images onto the Real Red circles and then onto the Wild Wasabi Scallops.  Attach these to the sides of the basket with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Tie a knot in the Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and attach to the handle with a Mini Glue Dot.

I added some red M&M's to a small cello bag and tied it closed with some more of the Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used the Stampin' Write Markers on the apple image again but this time I punched it out with the Small Tag Punch.  The larger layer is made by using the Large Tag Punch with a piece of Wild Wasabi scrap.  I attached the tag to the ribbon with some Linen Thread.

Thanks for posting the instructions for this basket, Barb! You had made this at one of my parties a year or two ago and I saved it, thinking that one day I would have a need for it. And now I do! Our neighborhood is big time into May Day. Now I have a cute basket to hand out the goodies!! :)

Thanks for the step by step tutorial. I'm a new SU Demo. I see a lot of "recipes" around that really only list the ingredients, not the instructions. I certainly appreciate having the full recipe! I love this idea and how you coordinated everything!
