December 2014 Control Freaks Blog Tour

Freakwelcome2013 (2)

Welcome to the December 2014 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

Our theme is Occasions and Sale-a-bration Catalogs so you will see some brand new Stampin' Up! products!  Our tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the blog of my incredibly talented friend, Julie Davison,  you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may not be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

My first project uses the Butterfly Basics Bundle.  I used our Note Cards with Envelopes for this project and created a liner for my envelope by cutting a piece of the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack with the Envelope Liners Framelits.

I used the medium Butterfly Thinlit to cut Silver Foil Paper and Whisper White card stock.  After I die cut the white butterfly, I colored it with our NEW Blendabilities colors!!  Yep, that's right, we are adding Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky and Bermuda Bay to the lineup.

Butterfly_thinlit_blendas
I attached the two die cuts together at the body and fluffed up the wings a bit.  The greeting is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and inked with Basic Gray.

Supplies: Butterfly Basics stamp set, Butterfly Thinlits Dies, Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes, Whisper White card stock, Silver Foil Paper, Basic Gray Classic Pad, Blendabilities-Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette.

My second project uses the single stamp called Love is Kindness.  I inked the image with Memento Tuxedo Black so I could color the flowers with the Pink Pirouette Blendabilities Markers.  I added dark, medium and light in different areas of the flowers to give them dimension.  The stems were colored with the medium Wild Wasabi Blendabilities Marker.

The newspaper wrapping was stamped again on a scrap cut out and popped up on the first image for a 3-d effect. I colored it with the Smoky Slate Blendabiilites.  I cut the image with one of the Ovals Collection Framelits.

Love_is_kindness_IrresistablyThe strip of paper across the bottom is one of the Sale-a-bration choices this year.  It is the Irresistibly Yours Specialy Designer Series Paper and you an earn it FREE with a $50 order starting January 6th.

The paper is matte with glossy raised images.  You can add color to this paper with Blendabilities Markers like I did or you could use a Sponge, Sponge Dauber, Spritzer or Brayer.

Supplies: Love is Kindness single stamp, Ovals Collection Framelits, Big Shot Machine, Magnetic Platform, Irresistably Yours Specialy Designer Series Paper, Pink Pirouette Seam Binding, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Blenadabilities-Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi and Smoky Slate, Paper Snips

Freakwelcome2013 (2)

Welcome to the November 2014 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

Our theme is "Christmas/Holiday" so you will see some fun projects using lots of different Stampin' Up! productsOur tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the blog of the incredibly talented Judy DiScipio, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may not be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

December_wonderMy first project uses the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set I got to play with this stamp set while I was on the Founder's Circle Retreat back in September.  I only had a few ink pad colors with me so I chose Coastal Cabana and created the tag.  I brought it home with me and added it to this card.  I love the non-traditional Christmas colors . :-)

December_wonder_cabana
The stamp set comes with the solid and outline diamond images.  I stamped the Coastal Cabana off once to make the solid string and then came back in with Memento Tuxedo Black for the overlaying outline image.  These stamps are Photopolymer so it is incredibly easy to line up the images.

December_wonder_cabana_close

My background uses the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Supplies: Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer stamp set, On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Neutrals Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack, Angled Tag Topper Punch, Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Rhinestones Basic Jewels, Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

My second project is a Money Holder.  I don't know about you but cash is always the right size and always the right color for the young people on my list.  I make these every year and this year, I have a video tutorial so come back early next week and I will have it posted for you.

I usd the Letterpress Winter set with my favorite snowflake color combination this year, Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon.  I also added some of the smaller snowflakes stamped with the Encore Silver Metallic Pad.

Money_holder_letterpresswinter
I cut two banners, one from each color and staggered them just a bit for a pop of color at the end of the greeting

Money_holder_lagoon

The For You greeting was stamped in Lost Lagoon and punched out with the 1" Circle Punch and then layered on a 1-1/4 Scallop Circle out of Soft Sky.

Supplies: Letterpress Winder, Stampin' Trimmer, Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky inks and card stock, Encore Metallic Silver Ink, 1" Circle Punch, 1-1/4 Scallop Circle Punch, Banners Framelits,

My first project uses the Rev Up the Fun stamp set.  I sent these cards to some very special young men, hope they like them. :-)

Rev_up_the_fun_red_black

I ran a quarter sheet of Basic Black card stock through the Big Shot with the Arrows Folder and cut it on the diagonal with my Stampin' Trimmer.  This gave me two pieces so I could make two cards.

I added some Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon to create a pennant and placed a Candy Dot on a Candy Dots Brad Base for some added interest.

Supplies:
Rev Up the Fun, Jet Black StazOn, Real Red, Smoky Slate and Basic Black Card Stock, Smoky Slate 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, Brights Candy Dots, Candy Dots Brad Bases, Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Stampin' Trimmer

My second project uses the Lovely As a Tree stamp set.  This set has been around forever and every year I wonder if it will retire.  Check back here on Monday to see the retiring stamp set list to find out if it does.

Lovely_tree_thoughts

To ink the tree, tap it onto the Old Olive Pad.  Whie it is still wet, use an Early Espresso Marker to color over the trunk and the branches.  Huff on your stamp and press it onto the Naturals Ivory card stock.

I also used the Vintage Trinkets and added a small safety pin with a knot of our 7/16" Natural Trim for a bit of interest.  This card wuld be perfect for a man or a woman.

My first project uses the Single Stamp called Blessed Easter.  I cut the words away from the flower image to create two stamps as I want to use these beautiful tulips on more than just Easter Cards.  I stamped the tulips in Jet Black StazOn on Whisper White and used my Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding and Gumball Green markers to color the image.

Blessed_easter_blushing.glitter

I used a 2-Way Glue Pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the flowers.  I paper pierced around the oval adding a few sequins from our Gold Sequin Trim and separated the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper from the flowers with a strip of Blushing Bride punched with the Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.

February 2014 Control Freaks Blog Tour!

Freakwelcome2013 (2)

Welcome to the February 2014 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month is Mish Mash so you will see projects using lots of different Stampin' Up! productsOur tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the blog of the incredibly talented Julie Davison, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may not be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

My first project is a fun card with a definite retro feel.  The Geometrical Stamp Set and  Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape adds such flair to your projects!
  SeeyalaterTYfringe
The fun retro image from the Geometrical stamp set was stamped on a tag created with our NEW Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  I punched 1/8" holes through the two o's in the word Hooray and placed a scrap of So Saffron behind it.  Fringe Scissors are a must and they add a fun detail under the main layer.  The thin satin Tangerine Tango ribbon is from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack and you can find it on the Clearance Rack.

Supplies:
Geometrical Stamp Set, Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape, Fringe Scissors, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock, Baked Brown Sugar Ink pad.

My next project uses the Good as Gold Card Kit from the Sale-a-bration Brochure.  You can choose the Good as Gold Card Kit FREE with a $50 order through March 31st.

I cut one of the cards in half to create two mini thank you cards for my hostesses this week.  I then used the Envelope Punch Board to make coordinating envelopes for each one. The measurements for an envelope that will fit a 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 card are right on the board.

Another_thank_you_goodasgold2

This kit comes with a sheet of greetings in various languages.  I wanted to use all the tags so I stamped images from the Photopolymer set called Another Thank You to create little banners to cover the words.

Another_thank_you_goodasgold

Here is a close up of the front of the card.  I used one of the gold envelope liners, included in the kit to punch small hearts and attached them to the front of each mini card and to the envelopes.  The Baker's Twine is also included in the kit so I tied a cute bow and attached it to the heart with a Glue Dot.

Supplies:
Another Thank You Photopolymer stamp set, Good as Gold Card Kit (choose this free with a $50 order), Paper Snips, Small Heart Punch, Envelope Punch Board, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana card stock, glue dots

July 2013 Control Freaks Blog Tour!

Freakwelcome2013 (2)

Welcome to the July 2013 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are sharing some of our Favorite Fun Items.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from Sandy Mathis Blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 26th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 27th.

I chose to use some Halloween themed items from the Holiday Catalog.  The Halloween Happiness single stamp is just my style.....cute!  I also knew I had to use the Black & Orange Stampin' Glitter and the Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape.  I stamped my image from Everything Eleanor and covered it with Heat & Stick Powder, heat it just a bit so it would be tacky, added the glitter and heat again to set, love the sparkle!!  I added one of the patterns in the Washi Tape to the top of the tag for more Halloween fun.

  Halloweenhappiness1
My second project is also a Halloween Card, can you tell that I love Halloween!!  This card uses the Tags 4 You stamp set and coordinating Label Bracket Punch on page 37.  You can purchase these two items in a bundle and save 15%.Tags4youdazzle
Tags4youdazzlecloseThe focal point was created by stamping the main image in Jet Black StazOn onto a Window Sheet.  I then mixed Dazzling Details Glitter Adhesive with a bit of Pumpkin Pie reinker and "painted" the reverse of the image with an old Blender Pen.  I let it dry and cut it out.  I added it to a scrap of Very Vanilla that was punched out with the Label Bracket Punch and layered that on a circle from the Circles Collection Framelits.  A bit of piercing with the Essentials Piercing Pack finished it off.

That does it for me, your next stop is the blog of another talented Control Freak Stamper and one of my dear friends, Dawn Olchefske, I know you will love what she has to share.

Banner Greetings Control Freaks Swap Card

This is the card I made for the Control Freaks New Catalog Swap last month. I chose to use the NEW Hostess set called Banner Greetings (see it online HERE) and added some toothpicks to create some bright and fun banners.

Bannergreetingscfswap

GinghamwashiI also used one of our NEW Designer Washi Tape Collections called Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape (order it #129314) I wrapped each pattern around my main image piece for some bright detail.

Washi Tape feels a bit like masking tape.  It is translucent and a bit thinner.  You can reposition it and tear it with your fingers.  It is so  much fun to use. :-)

I also added one of our New Brights Designer Buttons (order them #130028).  The buttons have been redesigned and I have to say, I love them!!

If you check out the stamp set, there are no solid banners, each banner has a greeting on it.  I wanted one of them to be plain.  You can create the look of a plain banner by using the "baby cakes" greeting and covering it with a 7/8" Scallop Circle punchout.  It fits over the words perfectly.  I also added a Daffodil heart to the center for a pop of color.

This month we are showing off some of our New Catalog Preview Items.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from my dear friend Dawn Olchefske's Blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

Chalktalkcftourboth
My first project uses the Tag a Box Bundle.  This bundle includes eight easy to assemble gift boxes with acetate sleeves, clothespins, exclusive Baker's Twine and a variety of tags to make your gift really stand out.

ChalktalkcookiessideI wanted to give one of my daughter's favorite teachers some of my homemade chocolate and butterscotch chip cookies.  They traded treats a few months ago and he raved about them so I thought he might enjoy some more.

The cookies are wrapped in our retiring Gusseted Cellophane Bags (5 x 3 x 11 1/2) #127850 that first debuted in the Holiday Catalog. These are the perfect size for gifting a handmade goodie.

The packaged cookies were placed in the box and slipped into the acetate sleeve.  I wrapped my gift with some of our trendy NEW Chevron Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz.  The tags and Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine are included in the bundle and I added a snippet of Crisp Cantaloupe card stock cut into a pennant shape.

Here is a close up of the tag.  I stamped my image from a New stamp set called Chalk Talk in Pear Pizzazz and added a nifty white clay button over the heart.  I created the button with our NEW Simply Pressed Clay and Clay Mold set.

ChalktalkcookiescloseClick to view larger

My next project is a coordinating card using the same colors, the NEW Chalk Talk set and a few other NEW goodies!

ChalktalkcftourThe main image was stamped in Bermuda Bay, fussy cut and layered over some Whisper White run through the Big Shot with the Chevron TIEF.  I cut a strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock with the zig zag die in the Finishing Touches Edgelits and layered that behind the Fancy Fan pattern from the 2013-2015 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.

I created anther button with the Simply Pressed Clay for this card.  Instead of leaving it white, I kneaded a few drops of Crisp Cantaloupe Ink into the clay before it was pressed into the mold.  Be sure to come back after the catalog goes live for tips and tricks using the new Simply Pressed Clay.

March 2013 Control Freaks Blog Tour - Spring & Easter Creations!

CFwelcome

Welcome to the March 2013 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are showing off some of our Spring and Easter Creations.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the hilariously funny and talented Jan Tinklenberg's Blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

I recently purchased the Spring Sampler set from the Spring Catalog.  I just love small images and I chose to use it on all my projects this month

First up is a teeny tiny chocolate treat!  Did you know that the Petal Card Punch can be used to create a tiny 1" square box?  It can!!

Springsamplepetalcardkisses1I was able to put two Hershey's Kisses in each box before wrapping it with our new 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon.  This ribbon comes in three colors, Marina Mist, Old Olive and Melon Mambo.  I paired the ribbon with Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink boxes and think it looks great!

Springsamplepetalcardkisses

My second project is a set of cards using the Spring Sampler stamp set and the fun Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die.  The circle die cut is the perfect size for these little images.  Stampin' Up!'s Note Cards & Envelopes are the perfect size for quick and easy notes.

Springsamplercfgroup

I used the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set, the Designer Series Paper Stacks (Brights, Subtles and the 2012-2014 In Color) along with Wild Wasabi 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding and the Primorse Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbons for my cards.  I also added the matching Designer Series Paper to the envelope flaps to complete the ensemble.

February 2013 Control Freaks Blog Tour - Spring Catalog!

CFwelcome

Welcome to the February 2013 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are showing off some of our Spring Catalog Creations.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from Lisa Martz's blog you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

I decided to do a little work with the Flower Fair Simply Scrappin' Kit shown on page 31.  I am not a scrapbooker per say so I used the kit for a couple of cards too. :-)  The colors in this kit are so fun and bright and the Designer Series Paper is fabulous!!
The kit  includes two sheets of self adhesive die cuts, six 8x8 sheets of Double Sided Designer Series Paper, eight sheets of 8x8 card stock, one yard of each Garden Green (exclusive to the kit) and Regal Rose 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and eight Daffodil Delight Designer Buttons.

I knew the Regal Rose floral pattern DSP would make a gorgeous dress so I also used the Dress Up Framelits from page 21.

Flowerfaircfdress
I sort of envisioned this dress in a shop window and thought the lacy scallop pattern from the Delicate Designs Folders would make a great canopy.  The greeting comes from the Oh, Hello set on page 4.

My second card uses the other DSP pattern in the kit and it has a bit more white space.  I stamped a few butterflies from the Annual Catalog set called Papillion Potpourri and punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch on page 13.

Flowerfaircfforyou
My greeting is a stamp that is included in the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit on page 18 and I layered it on a couple of our Oval Punches.  The ribbon and flag are both from the Flower Fair Simply Scrappin' Kit.

I did create an 8x8 scrapbook page but I layered everything on an 8x8 piece of Whisper White card stock.

January 2013 Control Freaks Blog Tour - Sale-a-bration!

CFwelcome

Welcome to the Janaury 2013 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are showing off some of our Sale-a-bration Creations Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from Jason Casper's blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

When I first saw the Feeling Sentimental stamp set in the Sale-a-bration Brochure, I was a little intimidated by it.  I loved the images but wasn't sure how to use them.  Since playing with them a bit, I have found that simple stamping is perfect for these images.

Feelingsentimentalred I stamped the image in Black on Whisper White and cut it out with one of the New Ovals Collection Framelits.  Most of the Real Red layer was textured with the Sale-a-bration Vine Street Folder and then I cut a larger oval out of it for the phone booth to nest in.  The greeting was stamped on the non-textured section of the red layer and I wrapped a piece of Basic Balck Taffeta around to separate it.

Two images from That's the Ticket were stamped in Real Red and Black on Real Red and Whisper White card stock.  They were punched out

Feelingsentimentalredclosewith the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and stapled to the card.  The little Eiffel Tower image is from the Collage Curios set and fits perfectly on the blank ticket image.

VintageversesbloominoutMy next card uses a number of the FREE items you can choose with your $50 purchases during Sale-a-bration.  I created this Gatefold card with the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper, Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack, Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set

and the Vintage Verses stamp set. The butterflies were punched with the coordinating NEW Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly Punches and I paper-pierced around the largest butterfly.

I used the New Years Single Stamp (Single Stamps are only available through January 2nd) and embossed it on Basic Black card stock with Gold Embossing Powder and Versamark.  I cut it out with one of the Labels Collection Framelits and added it to a 2 x 8 strip of Soft Suede card stock.  I scored it at 2" and punched a hole in it with the 1 1/4 Circle Punch so it would go around the neck of the bottle.  I stamped the strip in Soft Suede with one of the snowflakes from the Snowflake Soiree stamp set in the Holiday Catalog.  The Vintage Brad at the bottom adds some dimension.  Great way to jazz up that bottle of spirits or in this case Sparkling Cider. :-)

My next project is another recipe for my local swap group.  I always create my recipes in My Digital Studio as I love the ease of designing it, printing multiple copies from my computer and adhering it to a coordinating 4x6 piece of card stock.

This recipe comes from my friend Vesta and I make it as dessert for Christmas each year.  It is a big hit and even the kids love it!

I used the Winter Wonders Digital Kit with MDS2 to create this recipe.

Download includes:
* 15-piece SVG stamp brush set
* 10 Designer Series Papers
* 19 embellishments
Coordinating colors: Going Gray, Island Indigo, Night of Navy, Pool Party, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise

It was so easy.  Notice the scallop on the front?  It is one of the digital embellishments that comes with this kit. I printed a sheet of them and punched them out with my 1 3/4 Scallop Circle Punch.  The embellishment imported into my project as a 1 3/4 Scallop Circle Punch so it punched out perfectly!

Leave me a comment on this post and I will send two of you your own Russian Creme Recipe Cards.  Comments will be accepted through December 23rd, 2012.

October 2012 Control Freaks Blog Tour - For the Men

CFwelcome

Welcome to the October 2012 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month is For the Men in Our Lives Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the fabulous Lisa Martz's Blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  Note:  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

I am starting out with a "party snack" recipe that is a favorite of the men in my house.  I created the recipe in My Digital Studio, printed it on my home computer in Whisper White card stock and mounted it to a 4x6 piece of Basic Gray card stock.

Recipepotatocrisps
I participate in a recipe exchange each month with some of my customers/friends and this was the recipe I shared in September.  I did add a Regals Brad in More Mustard to the sunburst near the bottom for a bit of dimension. Here is a shot of the back of the recipe card:

Leave a comment on this post and I will send a couple of you your own Bacon & Cheese Potato Crisp Recipe Card.  Comments for the recipe cards are closed as of 10-24-12...thanks for all the wonderful comments. :-)

Up next is a card for a sweet little boy.  I don't have too many young boy stamps so I grabbed my Every Little Bit set.  This set has 28 small images that fit perfectly in our 1" Square Punch.

Everylittlebithammertrio

I stamped the three hammer & nail images on a scrap of Whisper White in Jet Black Staz On, colored the handles with a Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker and the hammer heads with the NEW Stampin Dazzle Marker in Silver.

Everylittlebithammertrioclose

I took another larger scrap of White and punched a 1" square out of it, placed the "hole" over my stamped image and with a Sponge Dauber, I added some Crumb Cake Ink.   The images were then punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch.

The strip of Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock behind the trio of images was run through the Big Shot with the Striped TIEF and the Stampin' Sanding System was used to reveal the lighter color inside.

That does it for me, your next stop is the blog of my buddy Dawn Olchefske and I know you will love what she has to share.
