Manly Cards

Manly Birthday Card

Needed a few manly birthday cards this month and so I copied one of the projects from my recent Be a Big Shot at Home Class (more info on this class HERE).  I used the Hexagon Thinlit, Chalk Talk Framelits and the Wetlands stamp set.

*Die cut a quarter sheet of Mossy Meadow card stock with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.  Save a few of the hexagons.
*Adhere the hive to a Mossy Meadow card base.
*Add a few of the hexagon pieces to it with Stampin' Dimensionals. (These pieces are the leftovers from the die cut hive)

Hexagon_card_dimension*Cut the large tag image from the Chalk Talk Framelits out of Crumb Cake.
*Stamp your images on the Chalk Talk Tag in Soft Suede ink, my greeting came from the Petite Pairs stamp set.
*Fold the ribbon up through the top of the tag and tie in place with the Linen Thread and attach the tag to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Something Borrowed with Guy Greetings

The Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper on page 42 of the Occasions Catalog appears to be a paper that you can only use on a frilly card for gal pal or a wedding card.  However, there are definitely some manly patterns in this set. :-)

Something_borrowedThe patterns on the opposite side of the flowery patterns are very geometric and perfect for guy cards.  The card below shows one of these patterns.

It was paired with the Guy Greetings stamp set and the Ornate Tag Topper Punch (this punch is on sale this week for 25% off!!).  Super simple card that could be easily mass produced.

The greeting fits perfectly on the Washi Tape die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit set.

April 2014 Control Freaks Blog Tour

Freakwelcome2013 (2)

Welcome to the April 2014 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

Our theme is "Fun for EVERYone!" so you will see some fun projects using lots of different Stampin' Up! productsOur tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the blog of the incredibly talented Judy DiScipio, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may not be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

My first project uses the Rev Up the Fun stamp set.  I sent these cards to some very special young men, hope they like them. :-)

I ran a quarter sheet of Basic Black card stock through the Big Shot with the Arrows Folder and cut it on the diagonal with my Stampin' Trimmer.  This gave me two pieces so I could make two cards.

I added some Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon to create a pennant and placed a Candy Dot on a Candy Dots Brad Base for some added interest.

Rev Up the Fun, Jet Black StazOn, Real Red, Smoky Slate and Basic Black Card Stock, Smoky Slate 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, Brights Candy Dots, Candy Dots Brad Bases, Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Stampin' Trimmer

My second project uses the Lovely As a Tree stamp set.  This set has been around forever and every year I wonder if it will retire.  Check back here on Monday to see the retiring stamp set list to find out if it does.

To ink the tree, tap it onto the Old Olive Pad.  Whie it is still wet, use an Early Espresso Marker to color over the trunk and the branches.  Huff on your stamp and press it onto the Naturals Ivory card stock.

I also used the Vintage Trinkets and added a small safety pin with a knot of our 7/16" Natural Trim for a bit of interest.  This card wuld be perfect for a man or a woman.

Supplies: Loving Thoughts, Lovely As a Tree stamp sets, Naturals Ivory, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Early Eapresso card stock, Old Olive Classic Ink, Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Vintage Trinkets, 7/16" Natural Trim,  Stampin' Trimmer

That does it for me, your next stop is the blog of another super talented Control Freak Stamper, Justin Krieger, I know you will love what he has to share.

Outline & Sketch Alphabets meet Soho Subway DSP

OutlinealphabetGreat card using the ABC-123 Outline Alphabet & Numbers and ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers sets. The letters were stamped over each so each letter has a dark outline and a colorful center.  Very cool sets to use together.  The letter "U" is layered on a few circle punches and finally on our NEW Artisan Label Punch and it is accented with one of the fun Cancy Dots and Brad Bases.

The background papers come from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper package which is great for your masculine cards. Here is a shot of all the papers in that pack.

Place your orders in my Online Store at anytime and when you do, I will send you a Green Card.  Green isn't the color of the card, green means you can reuse it. :-)

Another Pop 'n Cuts Card

Here is another card using the Pop 'n Cuts Card Base Die to make a tri-fold card. You can view others HERE and HERE.

The Spring Catalog will be ending on May 31st and when it ends, the Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper will retire. This is a great package to use for those man cards.

I stamped three of the tickets from That's the Ticket (order it in Clear #128075 or Wood #128072) and adhered them to the front of my card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I added onte of the arrow clips from the package of Hung Up Clips, on page 28 of the Spring Catalog, for added interest.

I used a 12 x 4 1/4 piece of one of the patterns for the main card and added a 1 1/4 x 4 1/4 strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock on one end. I placed that end on the straight edge on the die and ran it through.  After scoring the piece as shown below, I cut a piece of Sahara Sand to 4 1/4 x 2 1/4, ran it through the Argyle Textured Impressions Folder and added it to the card.

The inside layers are 4 x 4 and 3 3/4 x 3 3/4.  I inked my inside image with Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy markers, stamped it and punched it out with the 2 1/2 Circle Punch.  This was added to one of the Scallop Circle die cuts on the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die.

Below is a collection of photos showing you how I created the tri fold card.

Technique Geeks - Inky Tape for the Men

Another card from a recent Technique Geeks Class, I call this technique Inky Tape.  We used three different widths of tape for this card.

I chose the Clockworks set (order it in Clear 127292 or Wood 127290) as I wanted a masculine feel to the card and this one fits the bill.

Check out more Manly Cards on my blog HERE.

October 2012 Control Freaks Blog Tour - For the Men

Welcome to the October 2012 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month is For the Men in Our Lives Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from the fabulous Lisa Martz's Blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  Note:  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

I am starting out with a "party snack" recipe that is a favorite of the men in my house.  I created the recipe in My Digital Studio, printed it on my home computer in Whisper White card stock and mounted it to a 4x6 piece of Basic Gray card stock.

I participate in a recipe exchange each month with some of my customers/friends and this was the recipe I shared in September.  I did add a Regals Brad in More Mustard to the sunburst near the bottom for a bit of dimension. Here is a shot of the back of the recipe card:

Leave a comment on this post and I will send a couple of you your own Bacon & Cheese Potato Crisp Recipe Card.  Comments for the recipe cards are closed as of 10-24-12...thanks for all the wonderful comments. :-)

Up next is a card for a sweet little boy.  I don't have too many young boy stamps so I grabbed my Every Little Bit set.  This set has 28 small images that fit perfectly in our 1" Square Punch.

I stamped the three hammer & nail images on a scrap of Whisper White in Jet Black Staz On, colored the handles with a Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker and the hammer heads with the NEW Stampin Dazzle Marker in Silver.

I took another larger scrap of White and punched a 1" square out of it, placed the "hole" over my stamped image and with a Sponge Dauber, I added some Crumb Cake Ink.   The images were then punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch.

The strip of Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock behind the trio of images was run through the Big Shot with the Striped TIEF and the Stampin' Sanding System was used to reveal the lighter color inside.

That does it for me, your next stop is the blog of my buddy Dawn Olchefske and I know you will love what she has to share.

Thanks for visiting!!!!

It's Raining Men - Not So Seriously

This is one of the cards from my "It's Raining Men" card class in September.  Click to see more of my Manly Cards.  We used the Not So Seriously stamp set and I just love these little dogs!

We stamped them in Early Espresso and added some details to their collars and the grass with a couple of Stampin Write Markers.  I finally got to use my Always Artichoke Denim Jean Ribbon....WOO HOO!! Get a share of this ribbon and a few others in my His & Hers Ribbon Share, scroll down after you click the link.

The background was done with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the gals commented that this is a really simple card to make.

For the Men - Golden Wheat

My monthly card class is so much fun and I am not just talking about the guests having fun, I mean me!  It gives me the opportunity to create five simple but fabulous cards.

This card was a huge hit at my September card class.  The focus was "It's Raining Men" and all five cards had a manly theme.  My next monthly card class is Thursday, November 3rd at 6:00.  If you are in the Sheridan, Wyoming area, come join us!!

MochamorningFor this card, we used the Autumn Days stamp set to stamp the wheat in Versamark and cover it with Gold Embossing Powder.  It is very striking.  The Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper has this fabulous striped paper in the pack and it just made the other neutral elements come together.

Watercolored Lovely as a Tree

This was one of the cards we made at a recent monthly card class called It's Raining Men.  It uses the Lovely as a Tree set with our Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  We spritzed the stamp with Stampin' Mist and then added the color to the leaves of the tree with various colors from the Regals Watercolor Wonder Crayons, spritzed it again and stamped it onto a piece of Confetti Cream card stock.  We then cleaned the stamp and used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to over stamp the image again in Chocolate Chip.

The pennant strip was done by stamping the Solid Stripes ala'carte stamp in Versamark on a strip of Riding Hood Red and then snipping the end off with the Postage Stamp Punch.

You can order any of these supplies in my Online Store any time of the day!!

I hold a my monthly card class on the first Thursday of every month in my Stampin' Studio in Sheridan, Wyoming.  The cost is $12.50 or a $25 order placed that day.
