Occasions Catalog 2012

Bordering on Romance & Best Friends Forever!

I have another twofer for you today. This time, I have a set from the Occasions Mini Catalog that ends on April 30th and a set that is retiring from the Big Catalog on May 31st.

BorderingonromanceFirst up is a card made with the Bordering on Romance Set (Wood 125480 or Clear 125482).  This set is on page 11 of the Occasions Mini Catalog and along with the wonderful floral images, there are two images in this set that coordinate with the Adorning Accents Edgelits and the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.

Borderingonromancerosered

I stamped the images in Versamark on Crumb Cake Card Stock and embossed them with White Embossing Powder.  I then colored the images with my Rose Red and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers.  The flower middles are the pink rhinestones that come in the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit.  I had some extras and thought they looked great on this card.  I wrapped the card with the Rose Red Seam Binding and stamped my greeting from Friendly Phrases (Wood 126149 or Clear 126151).

Bestfriendsforevernancy

This card was made with the Best Friends Forever stamp set (Wood 122805 or Clear 122807) and it is retiring out of our Big Catalog.  You can download and print easy to read retiring stamp set lists right here,  BY PAGE NUMBER, or in ALPHABETICAL ORDER

The colors are Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy and the Designer Series Paper is from the Well Worn Package.  The greeting is from a retiring set called On Your Birthday.  The Linen Thread and Neutrals Button finish it off.

Borderromancetech

This is one version of a card my gals made at Technique Geeks class in March.  We learned the Plastic Wrap Background technique and had fun blending the colors.  We colored the flower image with Blender Pens and Stampin' Write Markers. The markers were scribbled onto clear blocks and we picked up the color with the Blender Pens and added it to the image.  This allows for softer coloring as opposed to the dark vibrant colors of the markers themselves.  We "split the card with the Baja Breeze Pleated Ribbon.  I used my Color Coach for the color combination. :-)

The bottom edge was created with the Adorning Accents Edgelits and the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, the main image was cut and matted with the Labels Collection Framelits.  These are items we will be using in my upcoming Be a Big Shot at Home Classes.  These classes are available to anyone near or far.  More info HERE.

I have my Technique Geek Files for sale and you do not need to be a demonstrator to purchase them.  Find all the details HERE.

PetitepurseredpolkaRound 4 of my Be a Big Shot at Home Classes starts next month and if you aren't already a member, join us.  You will receive all the die cut pieces to create three or four Big Shot projects each month for four months.  At the end of the four months, you will receive a $150 shopping spree from any of our current catalogs.  Be a Big Shot at Home members also receive the BRAND NEW STAMPIN' UP! CATALOG for free.  Get all the deets HERE.

Sweet Cake 3D Box Card

Sweetshopwenvelope

This was one of the cards my club members made in February.  I had all the 2011-2013 In colors for them to choose from for the base and I cut pieces from all the patterns in the Sweet Shop package.  They had access to all my 2011-2013 In Color Ruffled Ribbons and my Jelly Bean Brads it was fun watching them choose their combinations.

The main image is from the Sweet Cake (Clear 125492 or Wood 125490) stamp set.  We embossed the image in white embossing powder on one of the In Colors and cut it out.  This looks like an ordinary card on the outside but check out the inside!

The inside is like a box with a Peekaboo window in it.  My gals loved this card!  I have written a brief tutorial so you can make your own. :-) Download 3D_Box_Card

Mixed Bunch Treats!

Mixedunchrologroup

I try to make a little something for my club gals each month and this was the treat in February.  Check out some of their other treats, January and December.  I used the NEW Mixed Bunch stamp set (Clear 125537 or Wood 125535) and coordinating Blossom Punch.

My colors are Regal Rose and Old Olive.  The leaves are actually punch outs done with the Modern Label Punch, I love how the end of it matches the petals on the flowers.  These little babies were stamped and punched at home and assembled at the dentist office while the kiddos were getting their teeth cleaned.  I little irony, making candy treats at the dentist!! :-)

Mixedbunchrolosingle

I stamped the image in Regal Rose and punched it out.  I added two Modern Label "leaves" and added a solid Regal Rose Blossom to the bottom to hide the leaves.  The center is an Easter Rolo attached with a Min Glue Dot.

Thanks to Connie Babbert for the idea!!!

FREE tutorial - Gate Fold card with Belly Band

ApothecaryartopenA few days ago, I posted this card during the Control Freaks tour and promised to show you how it was made.

In order to show you how, I had to make another one so this time I decided to use a different stamp and stamp the panels rather than cover them with Designer Series Paper.

I do have a link to a FREE .pdf at the end of this post.

Gatefoldcosed
I used one of the FREE sale-a-bration items on this new card, the Triple Treat Flower stamp.  I stamped it three times, once in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla, once in Baja Breeze on Baja Breeze and once in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla.  I used the three coordinating punches to create my triple layer image, Fancy Flower, 5-Petal Flower, and the 1/2" Circle Punch .

The Netting background stamp was stamped on both of the side panels in Crumb Cake and I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp for the greeting.

Here is a look at the inside:

Gatefoldopen

For the inside, I stamped the greeting from Full of Life in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla and then cut it out with one of the label dies in the NEW Labels Collection Framelits.

The layer behind the greeting is cut from Cherry Cobbler and is the same size as the one I stamped the greeting on.  I simply cut it in half and placed both pieces on the back so they could peek out from the top and bottom.

My final set of projects in Round 3 of my Be a Big Shot at Home classes went out this week and I have to say that I love creating and preparing these project kits each month.  Won't you join us in the next round.

February 2012 Control Freaks Blog Tour - The Cutting Edge!

CFwelcome

Welcome to the February 2012 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are featuring "Cutting Edge" cards and projects made with the Big Shot and the vast number of dies we carry.

Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from our fabulous Control Freak Leader Lisa Martz, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  Note:  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

I wanted to start out with something that can be made very quickly with minimal supplies and this card fits the bill.  I saw something similar on Dawn's blog and knew it would make the perfect card for my friend Sandi.

Butterflysab2012I used the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper that is a Sale-a-bration choice with a $50 order.

I used my 1 1/4 Square Punch to get four squares from two different patterns in the DSP and placed them across my Lucky Limeade card base.

I then used my Simply Scored Tool to create score lines above and below my squares, There is one above them and three below them.

The focal point is done with the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and some Pool Party card stock.  After I die cut the butterfly, I ran it through the Big Shot again with the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  A bit of ribbon from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack (another Sale-a-bration choice) finishes it off.  The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set and is layered with our 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches.

ApothecaryartclosedNext is a nifty card done with the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, the Apothecary Art stamp set and the NEW Labels Collection Framelits in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

The main image is stamped in Pear Pizzazz on Whisper White, colored with Stampin' Pastels Chalks and cut out with the matching framelit.

The greeting is layered across the center and is accented with a Twitterpated Designer Button and some White Baker's Twine.  The entire main image is attached to a belly band made from Textured Baja Breeze card stock

ApothecaryartopenHere is the card open showing another pattern of the Twitterpated DSP in the center.

The greeting from Full of Life is stamped in Baja Breeze and cut with another size in the Labels Framelits Collection.

**I will post a brief FREE tutorial for making this card next week so come back and see me**

My final project is a fun and fast gift item done with the Island Floral Bigz Die.  It is a mini notepad for your purse or backpack.

Islandfloralnotes1

 Islandfloralnotes

I used the With All My Heart stamp set and embossed the large image on Concord Crush with Versamark and White Embossing Powder.  I punched the image with the Fancy Flower Punch that coordinates nicely with the die cut from the Island Floral die.  I cut about twenty sheets of copy paper for the note paper inside and finished it off with a button from the Brights Designer Buttons pack which is also a FREE Sale-a-bration choice.

That does it for me, your next stop is fellow freak Jan Tinklenberg and I know you will love what she has to share.

Elementary Elegance

Elementaryeleganceswap

ElementaryeleganceHere's a card I made with the FREE Sale-a-bration set called Elementary Elegance.  The center of the main image is a perfect match for our Curly Label Punch and the layer behind my greeting is done by running a scrap of Pool Party through the Big Shot with the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die

MswindowsvideopicIf you don't have the Movers & Shapers die, you can still use the two sets of windows created for it (Holiday Windows or the Punch Windows).  I have done a video showing you how to do this and you can see it HERE.

The bottom edge of the card is done with one of the NEW Adorning Accents Edgelits dies.

Sweet Pressed Valentine Sugar Cookies!

Valentinecookiesgroup

Here is my batch of Valentine Sugar Cookies!  I used my Holiday Collection of Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps.

Valentinecookiesingle

I found a yummy recipe online and even I liked it!!

Valentinecookiebag

I made the cookies for my club members and had them individually packaged for the gals when they arrived. I put a cookie in a Medium Cello Bag and tied them closed with a tag and some of the NEW Island Indigo Baker's Twine.

I used the Creatively Yours Stamp Set (Wood 122610 or Clear 122612) to create the tags and punched them out with the Large Oval Punch and the Scallop Oval Punch.

The greeting is from the Loved Ones stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Quick Valentine with the Notecards and Envelopes

Psiloveyoulisamnt
The Stampin' Up! Notecards and Envelopes make it so easy to create simple, quick and beautiful cards.  This is a Valentine Card that we made at Lisa's workshop last week and the gals loved it.

We started with a notecard and ran it through the Big Shot with the hearts folder from the NEW Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  We then took the heart image from the NEW P.S. I Love You stamp set, inked it with Pretty in Pink, punched it out with the Full Heart Punch and added it to the card with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting is stamped in Real Red and the heart is stamped again on the outside of the envelope and the Love image is added in Basic Black.  The tiny Red Glimmer heart punched with the Heart to Heart punch really finished it off.

Both of the heart punches I used on this project are in the main catalog in the new style but they are both also on the Clearance Rack in the old style so you could get the stamp set, both punches and a set of notecards and then choose a FREE item from the Sale-a-bration Brochure if you order with the Clearance Rack.

Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit

Blossombuilders23x3

The Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit from the Occasions Mini Catalog has so many different flowers, it is hard to decide which ones to use. :-)  The kit comes with two sheets of double sided, printed, die-cut flowers on textured paper so it is easy to mix, match and layer one-of-a-kind flowers.  The kit also includes a sheet of half-back PINK RHINESTONES!!

Blossombuildersblushing3x3

I started with the Lucky Limeade Polka Dot Flower and added some petal centers from another flower.  Notice the banner behind the flower, you get a few of these in the kit as well.  The Baja Breeze circle in the middle of the flower is also in the kit and I added one of the super cute PINK RHINESTONES to it!!!

I made this a 3x3 Note and as you can see by the two photos, the orientation can go either way and it still looks great.  I will write a little note on the inside when I give it away.  The Blushing Bride panel was run through the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing folder and you can get this FREE during Sale-a-bration next week!

Speaking of Sale-a-bration, you can join my team of demonstrators during Sale-a-bration for only $125 and that includes the shipping.  Also, each month from February - December 2012 as long as you are active, you will receive a FREE pack of Designer Series Paper (shipping applied) or a FREE MDS download (no shipping).  I would love to have you on my team.  Please email or call me for more information.

Place your orders in my Online Store!!

Blossombuildersbaja3x3

The second card is also a 3x3 and on this one, I layered three of the flowers and added another Baja Breeze circle and PINK RHINESTONE to the middle.  The background is the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I added a bit of the NEW Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon to the edge of the flower for some added interest.
