Mini Tutorial - Making a Loopy Bow

I posted this card on Tuesday for the start of Sale-a-bration and have had a number of stampers email me to find out how to make this loopy bow with our 1/8" organdy ribbons that are in the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack.  It is super easy and here are some photos to help you.

I used the Fresh Vintage stamp set, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad pack on my card.

I started with a piece of the cardboard that comes in our DSP packs and cut it to 2 1/2 x 3.  Wrap your ribbon around the card any odd number of times, I did eleven.  Slide it off.

Holding the middle of the loops, pry open the prongs on one of the brads from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack, slip it over the loops press the prongs back together.

Punch a hole in your project and attach the brad....easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!!

Last Chance Designer Series Paper - Double Pocket Card

I haven't made one of these cards in ages!!  They are so cool and they can be made from a single sheet of DSP that measures 8 1/2 x 11.  Mine uses the retiring Lap of Luxury Designer Series paper and the Fabulous Florets set from the Summer Mini Catalog.

 

I stamped the floral image in the new Wisteria Wonder color and added cut out flowers stamped in Pretty in Pink.  The middles of the flowers are stamped in Concord Crush and cut out.  All the flowers were covered with Smooch Illuminate Top Coat to give them some sparkly shine and shimmer.

 

You fold it up and it creates a card with two pockets inside. 

 

I have stamped my greeting on one of the cards and the other is where I will attach a Chico's gift card for my sister-in-laws birthday.

Tutorial - Paper Buttons

I posted this card from my Be a Big Shot at Home Class Series a few weeks ago and have received quite a few inquiries as to how I did the paper button. 

It is a very simple process and here is a tutorial showing you those steps.

First, you need to punch out four 1" circles then two more using your 3/4" circle punch.  Turn these last two punchouts into rings by then sliding the 1" circle over the hole created by the 3/4" circle and punching.

 

Glue the four solid circles together making sure the edges are lined up.  Punch two holes in your stack with your Crop-a-Dile.  You can make a template by placing your Eyelet setting mat from the Mat Pack on a scrap piece of paper and coloring in two adjacent holes.  Punch these out with your Crop-a-Dile and then with the 1" Circle to create a template.  Keep this for future use.  Lay your template on your circle stack and punch your holes with the Crop-a-Dile.  Now add your two rings to the top.  Thread some of our new Baker's Twine through the holes and tie in a bow to complete your paper button. 

Looking to shine up your button, cover it with Crystal Effects prior to adding your twine and let it dry.  I dry mine overnight.

Lattice Die + Shrink Plastic =

A beautiful necklace!  My kids were playing with some Shrink Plastic yesterday and all of the sudden a light bulb went off in my head.  I knew the Lattice Bigz Die could be used to create a cross shape and I thought how cool would it be to make a piece jewelry with the die and the shrink plastic.

This is my first and only try at it as I found just a small piece of the black shrink plastic in my stash.  It is a little wonky but I will be wearing it to Easter Dinner anyway. {smile}

I ran the shrink plastic through the Big Shot using the Lattice die and then cut out the sides to get the cross shape.

I put the shrink plastic cross shape in my toaster oven and within a minute, I had this delicate piece of jewelry.  I added a Basic Rhinestone to the center for some added sparkle.

How's this for cool!!  Thanks to Lyssa Zwolanek for the idea.  My club gals made these last month and it was also a project in my Be a Big Shot at Home Class.  Round 2 starts May 15th, let me know if you want to sign up.

This card is very easy to do if you have a Big Shot and a few dies but I thought a video would make it even easier for you.  I am nice like that!!

Ice Cream Parlor Quilt Card

 

 

 

 

The Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper and Quick Accents Pack is just too cute.  I used the elements in this FREE Sale-a-bration item along with the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button Pack to create this quilt card.  The patterns in the DSP are wonderful to work with. See a 12x12 Scrapbook Page I did with some of this paper HERE.

To create a quilt card, start with a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of card stock.  You will also need twelve 1 1/4" pieces of Designer Series Paper.  Use the 1 1/4" Square Punch or cut them with your Paper Cutter.

Adhere the twelve DSP pieces to your card stock and then run it through your Big Shot with the Top Note Bigz Die and you have this super cute quilt piece.  The Ice Cream Parlor Buttons were added with Mini glue Dots.

Diorama Card Tutorial

Tasteful Trim as a Fish Out of Water?

What do you think of this!!  I created it using the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die and my Big Shot Machine!!!

 

How did it come about?  We were sitting around after a club party last week and Ramona says "Where did this goldfish come from" as she was holding up what looked just like one of those goldfish crackers that kids eat.  I look at it and I realize it is the end of a strip we ran through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim die.  All of the sudden, I spy with my little eye the negative space from that strip on the table and I see waves!!  My brain is on overload by now so I kick everyone out so I can create....just kidding!  Goldfish and waves on the water, WAHOO!!! 

Here are the pieces I used.  I ran one strip of Marina Mist and one strip of Pumpkin Pie through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim die and added them to my card.  Flip the negative image and you have two pieces with the waves and then cut apart the ribbon strip to make Goldfish!!!

Funky Four Note Card Portfolio

You saw my notecards in Yesterdays Post so today, I am showing you the Portfolio I created for them.  I used my favorite color of the week, Concord Crush with the Funky Four set.  The patterned paper is from the In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.  What do you think of the yummy Concord Crush Ribbon, I am in love!!!

Here is the inside of the set.  The note cards and envelopes fit nicely in both sides of the Portfolio. 

Directions for creating the Portfolio:  The Portfolio is made from one sheet of Concord Crush card stock.  Put the long side in your Paper Cutter and score at 5" and 6", turn it so the short side is at the top of your Paper Cutter and score at 2" and 2 1/2".  Cut out the bottom middle section and fold everything up to create your Portfolio.  Thanks so much to my stampin' buddy Dawn Olchefske for the idea.

Making flowers with a Scallop Punch or Big Shot Die

I posted THIS CARD yesterday with a nifty scalloped flower on it.  Pat wanted to know how to make it!!  Well, Pat, since you asked for it, here it is, the tutorial on making the Scalloped Flowers.  You can click on the images to make them larget

I started with two punched out Scallops, I am using two of the 2 3/8 Scallop Circles punched out of the In Color Patterns Stack in Poppy Parade, click HERE to get your share of this paper.  You could also use the scallop on the Pennant Die.  Lay them in your Paper Cutter and use the scoring blade to score between the scallops.  Keep rotating the scallop until you have scored between all the scallops.

 
Use your Paper Snips to cut up one of the score lines to the middle.

 
Fold the scored scallops back and forth (making mountain and valley folds) until you have gone all the way around the circle.  Do this to both scallops you punched out.

 

Add adhesive to the ends of one scallop and stick it to the ends of the other scallop.  I like the Multi Purpose Adhesive as it has a strong bond but you can wiggle the pieces around before it dries for the perfect fit.

Add a brad or button to the center and your flower is done.  For mine, I cut a small button using the Buttons Sizzlit with my Big Shot and then added a 5/16" White Neutrals Brad to the center.

I added my flower to a little gift box that I cut out with the Matchbox Die and my Big Shot.  I sponged a piece of the Presto Patterns DSP with Poppy Parade Ink for the lid of the box.

Inside, I have a pair of earrings that I am giving to a friend.
