More with the paper backing sheets!!

The main tutorial for this technique is HERE.  I have been saving the paper backing sheets from my die-cut Stampin’ Up! stamps.  All Mini Catalogs have die cut stamps!!!

Mercipaper_2

So here I stamped my image from Merci in Black StazOn.  Place the paper backing around the image and use sponge daubers to apply color from our Classic ink pads.

Here it is after I added Almost Amethyst, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.

Merciglitter

I wrapped a strip of Almost Amethyst grosgrain ribbon from the Fairy Tale Ribbon Originals and used some rub-ons to add a little fun to it.  I also used my mono-multi in the center of the flower and added some of the NEW Chunky Sprinkles Glitter to it.

For the background, I used the Prints designer series papers in Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink.

I am not sure if this card is TOO MUCH!!!  Leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Thanks for lookin’ !!

  1. I would love to receive this card. I like the sponge daubers and the backing sheets technique. It saves me from having to stay within the lines when I color.

  2. OMG I love this idea. Those backing sheets are sitting right here next to me. I keep thinking, “oh just throw them away”. But I just knew someone would come up with a brilliant way to use them. I know what I’ll be doing later. 🙂

  3. It is not too much! I went and threw away all my backing sheets, rats! And the worse part is I just emptied my trash into the dumpster Friday so all is gone. Since I too have a rough time staying in the lines when I watercolor, I loved the technique.

  5. Just “found” your blog this week and so glad I did. I love this card and the idea of using the backing sheets as templates. I won’t be throwing them away in the future!

  6. Such an original idea. I love your colour combination and added touch to the ribbon;definitely not ‘too much’. When I first saw this sample I suggested to some customers they not disgard their rubber from this set and they are oh so happy they listened. They also loved your card.
