Create a circle with your Round Tab Punch

I believe that this technique was shared at a Stampin' Up! Regional Event in Hamilton Ontario earlier this year.

You can use the Round Tab Punch to create a 1 7/8" hole in a 3x3 piece of cardstock and here is how you do it:

Cut a piece of cardstock to a 3x3 square.  Slide it all the way into the Round Tab Punch, center it and punch it out.

Roundtab1 Roundtab2

Rotate the cardstock a 1/4 turn and slide it back into the punch all the way, lining it up to create a circle and punch.  Here are pictures of the cardstock in the punch and a shot of the pencil lines I made to show you what you will be punching out.

Roundtab3 Roundtab4_2

Here is a shot of the punched out pieces and the circle they left behind.

Here is a card I created using this technique.  Have fun!!!!

Another Pocket Card

As promised, here is another pocket card using the Happy Heart Day stamp set.

Happyheartdaybluepocket

This card used Bashful Blue as the base.  I cut it to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, folded it in half and then scored the flap at 1".  I used the corner rounder on the card and the insert.  The little flower with heart center was stamped in Bashful Blue ink along the flap.  I again stamped the mouse image in Black StazOn and colored it in with my Watercolor Crayons and Aquapainter.  I added the Bashful Blue brad to the middle of the flower.  The Crop-A-Dile was used again to secure the flaps with the Real Red eyelets.  Use the Horizontal Slot Punch for the hole and run the Real Red Wide Grosgrain ribbon through and secure it with the Linen Thread.  Stamp your sentiment in the bottom right hand corner and it is done!!

Focal point dimensions are:

Watercolor Paper - 2 2 1/4

Real Red - 2 1/4 x 2 1/2

I stamped the little butterfly image on the insert which is 4 1/2 x 3 7/8

Happyheartdaybluepocketinsert

I will be using this set at my January parties so call me to book yours today!!

More new stamps!!

I pre-ordered the Happy Heart Day set and I am having a ball playing with it.  I really wanted to make a pocket card with it and here is what I came up with:

Happyheartdaypinkpocket

I cut my Regal Rose cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11 and folded it in half.  Score one end at 1 1/4" to fold down to make a flap.  Roll the Love wheel with Regal rose ink across the flap and along the bottom edge.  The mouse image was inked up in Black StazOn and stamped onto our Watercolor Paper.  Color it with Watercolor Crayons and an Aquapainter.  The little tag is also part of this set and was also stamped on Watercolor paper.  Stampin' Write Markers in Real Red andRegal Rose were used to color it in, the small tag punch was used to punch it out.  Add some Bashful Blue Grosgrain Ribbon and a Bashful Blue Brad.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to set the Real Red eyelets through the flaps to keep the pocket closed.  The Wide Grosgrain Ribbon tied with Linen Thread and the Jumbo Eyelet serve as a pull tab to get the insert out of the pocket.

Dimensions of the main image are:

Watercolor paper - 2x2

Bashful blue - 2 1/8 x 2 1/8

Read Red - 2 1/4 x 2 3/4

The Happy Heart Day stamp set and the Regal Rose Wide Grosgrain Ribbon are part of an upcoming promotion in January where you can get the ribbon FREE.  You can read about it on the flyer HERE

I will share another pocket card tomorrow....until then....Happy Stampin'!!!

Embrace Life Samples

This is a stamp set that is in the new Spring-Summer 2008 catalog.  It is called Embrace Life and it is just beautiful.  You can start placing orders out of the new catalog on January 1st so get those catalogs out and start adding to those wishlists.

I already have a full page of must haves so now I have to put them in order of must have right now, must have later in January, must have in February, etc.....LOL

Embracelifebluebrownopposite

This is my swap card for the controlfreaks,  I really do stink at watercoloring so I have been forcing myself to practice more in the hopes of getting better...practice makes perfect right??

The colors used are Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Watercolor Paper.  The Paisley background was stamped in Certainly Celery onto the Certainly Celery cardstock.  I stamped the leaves onto the Bashful Blue cardstock base with Bashful Blue ink.  The flower images were stamped in Black StazOn onto the Watercolor Paper and colored in with my Watercolor Crayons.  I used the Mat Pack and Piercing Tool to create the lines of holes and added a Vintage Brad to each end.  I added Chocolate Satin ribbon from the Theatre Ribbon Originals and thought an overlay of the Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon finished it off nicely.

Embraceliferoundtabhole_5

This card turned out better than I had hoped.  It also uses the Embrace Life set and the coordinating Ginger Blossoms Double Sided Paper (this paper is so yummy, I will be ordering more of it!!), Check over in the right hand side bar for my Designer Paper charts which will show you the patterns and colors of all of our papers.

This card has a Very Vanilla base and the mat is a piece of our NEW textured cardstock in Groovy Guava.  The textured cardstock adds so much to your stamped projects.  I created the 1 7/8 diameter circle using my Round Tab punch.

Click HERE for a mini tutorial on how to do this.

I stamped the flowers in Black StazOn and colored them using the Stampin' Write Markers in Ruby Red and Cameo Coral.  I added a bit of River Rock Double Stitched Ribbon and a picture hanger for my embellishments.  The main image is popped up using our Stampin' Dimensionals.

Enjoy :-)

SIL Christmas Gift!!

My sister-in-law saw a card at my mom's house that I had made a couple of years ago.  It was a CASE of one done by Beate but I couldn't remember exactly what it looked like.  She asked me to make her a set of them for Christmas so here they are:

Unfrogettabledragonflygroup

I used the dragonfly from the Unfrogettable set.  Sage Shadow and Blue Bayou were the colors I chose so I could use the fancy ribbon from the District Ribbon Originals.  I colored the dragonflies with the SU Metallic Pencils and spritzed some Sage Shadow marker over the images with the Color Spritzer Tool.  The background on the Sage Shadow is the Print Pattern.  Here is a photo of a single card.

Enjoy!!

Nugget Tins!!!!

I FINALLY received my order of the hinged nugget tins from specialty bottle.  I ordered them October 4th but they had been on backorder.  These gifts are so simple to make.  I started by cutting my Wintergreen Paper into 3 x 12 strips.  I placed my sticky strip along both of the 12" edges and then cut it into 1 x 3 strips.  I removed the backing from the sticky strip and wrapped the strips around the Hersheys Nuggets candies.

Each tin will hold twleve nuggets so you need one 3 x 12 strip for the candies in each tin.  The two pieces of the belly band are cut to 1 1/4 x 10 and 1 1/2 x 10.  I put the Sticky Strip on one of the 1 1/2 ends and wrapped it around the tin.  The belly band will slide on and off to access the goodies inside of the tin.  Here is a group shot of the three tins I made using the Wintergreen Designer Paper.

Here are the shots of each tin alone:

My postings will be sporatic in the next week couple of weeks as I have family coming in on Christmas Eve and I have not completed my shopping, wrapping, baking or cleaning!!!!  ACK!!!!!

Happy Stampin'!!!

Really inexpensive Candle Gifts

I was at Home Depot earlier in the week and came across these candle sets on sale for $4.99 per set of three.  I bought two sets and packaged them individually in our Large Cello Bags.  I added tags out of Ruby Red and Wild Wasabi with an image from the Perfect Presentation level 2 hostess set.  I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches and the Scallop Circle Punch.  I tied them with some Gold Elastic Cord and I have six adorable little Christmas Gifts for less than $2 each!!!!

New Stuff!!!

I finally had a chance to play with my goodies from the new catalog.  No, I don't have my new catalog yet but I was able to order from the preview brochure.

This is a new set called Embrace Life, it is a nice line art set.  I stamped the large flower image in Black StazOn and used my Ruby Red ink pad and a blender pen to color it in.  I added a black brad from our Vintage Brads.  I also stamped the leaves in River Rock on the River Rock card stock.  The striped paper is from the Ginger Blossom Designer Paper set, I stamped the smaller flowers on it in Ruby Red.  The greeting is a RUB ON!!!!!  Yes, that is correct, I said RUB ON, Stampin' Up! will have a number of rub on sets in the new catalog.  You get a sheet of white and a sheet of black that, of course, coordinate with a number of our stamp sets!!!!!

Embraceliferubon

I also used the rub ons on a small hexagon jar that I purchased at Specialty Bottle.  It is a size 4 which is the perfect size for a small gift of chocolate.  I used the white rub ons for this project.

I used rub ons around the bottom of the jar and for the flower on the lid.  I added some Black Grosgrain ribbon around the mouth of the jar.

Rubonsredblackjar1

Here is a close up of the lid.  I used the Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch and my Coluzzle for the card stock pieces on the lid.  I used my Piercing Tool to add the holes to the scallop and then dotted the holes with my White Gel Pen.  The flower is a white rub on and I added a Real Red Brad to the center to finish it off.

Rubonsredblackjartop

This is a side view of the rub ons going all around the jar.  This was my first experience using rub ons and I thought it was pretty easy to get them onto the jar.  I filled it with red and white Reese's Pieces.......yum yum

Rubonsredblackjarsideview

Here is another jar, but it doesn't use the rub-ons.  It took me all of five minutes to make and I filled it with Mint M&M's.

Well, that is it for today, Happy Stampin',  Barb

Candy Bar Gift Card Holder

I found these on Mary's blog and thought they were just adorable.  I ran to Safeway and purchased some of the Hershey's Symphony candy bars.  I already had some of the Stampin' Up! Gift Notes w/ Envelopes.  They come 30 to a pack and have ten each of Old Olive, So Saffron and Sahara Sand.  I also used some of the retiring Dashing Designer Paper.

I cut my Dashing paper to 6 3/4 x 8 1/4 and wrapped it around the candy bar securing it in the back.  I threaded the Wide Real Red Grosgrain under the paper and through the slits in the gift card and tied a knot.

The gift card is in the Gift Note which is secured to the candy bar with Mini Glue dots.

Enjoy!!!!

A new use for your Scallop Punch!!!!

First punch out a scallop with the Stampin' Up! Scallop Punch.  Use Dotto repositionable adhesive on one side of the punched out scallop to adhere it to a piece of copy paper.

Scallopadhesive

You must use copy paper as another sheet of card stock will be too think for the punch to go through.

Scalloponppaer

Slide the scallop on the copy paper into your punch turning it slightly to cut into all of the scallops.  Punch out.

Scallopinpunch

Here you have a really cool looking new piece of art to work with.  Mine did not punch out evenly as I had a tough time holding the punch steady while I took the picture for the above photo but the one on my finished card is just right!!!!

Scalloppunchout

Remove the scallop from the copy paper and since you used repositionable adhesive, it comes off easily.

Snowflakespotnewscallop

Finished card is a CASE of one done by Samantha.  I used Wintergreen Designer Paper which is retired.  If you have not yet ordered your Stampin' Up! Scallop Punch, call or email me today to order your very own!!!

Happy Stampin'  Barb
