July 2010

Christmas in July

Wednesday is my birthday but you get the gift, come back Wednesday for my birthday special and your chance to win!!

I wanted to use the new Dotted Ribbon Scallop Border Punch so I started punching a strip of Real Red card stock.  Well now, I had a really cool strip but what was I going to do with it.  I looked around my stamp room and spotted a Mini Milk Carton and thought it would look really cute around one.

Milkcartonchristmasribbonscallop
I cut a Mini Milk Carton out of Pear Pizzazz card stock and assembled it.  I wrapped my Dotted Ribbon Scallop Border around it and added my focal point.  The Chocolate Chip flower is on the Island Floral Die #118871 and the greeting is from Delightful Decorations.  The mini paper clip tied with some Real Red 1/8" Taffeta finishes it off.

Big Shot & Stampin' Up! Magnet Sheets

Stampin' Up! has added more raw materials to the NEW CATALOG that you can run through the Big Shot.  We have Cork Sheets, Colored Vinyl, Wood Sheets, and Magnet Sheets, you can check them out HERE.

I was tickled when I saw the Magnet Sheets #119816 and had to order them right away!!  I used the Magnet Sheets with my Serif Esssentials Alphabet Die set to make my name. :-)

Serifessentialsmagnetbarb

I put my name on my card stock file cabinet that holds my collection of Stampin' Up magnets.

Serifessentialsbarbfileout

I cut 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 squares of the Hostess Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper and the Magnet Sheets.  One side of the Magnet Sheet has adhesive on it so I attached my DSP to it and ran it through the Big Shot with my Alphabet set.  How fun is that!!!  Now my kids want me to cut out their names too. :-)  Any of the Bigz, Originals or Bigz XL dies will cut through Magnet Sheets.

Serifessentialsbarbfile

You can order your Magnet Sheets through my online STORE anytime.  We are off to the lake again today...WOO HOO!!!!

Making flowers with a Scallop Punch or Big Shot Die

I posted THIS CARD yesterday with a nifty scalloped flower on it.  Pat wanted to know how to make it!!  Well, Pat, since you asked for it, here it is, the tutorial on making the Scalloped Flowers.  You can click on the images to make them larget

I started with two punched out Scallops, I am using two of the 2 3/8 Scallop Circles punched out of the In Color Patterns Stack in Poppy Parade, click HERE to get your share of this paper.  You could also use the scallop on the Pennant Die.  Lay them in your Paper Cutter and use the scoring blade to score between the scallops.  Keep rotating the scallop until you have scored between all the scallops.

1
Use your Paper Snips to cut up one of the score lines to the middle.

2
Fold the scored scallops back and forth (making mountain and valley folds) until you have gone all the way around the circle.  Do this to both scallops you punched out.

3 4

Add adhesive to the ends of one scallop and stick it to the ends of the other scallop.  I like the Multi Purpose Adhesive as it has a strong bond but you can wiggle the pieces around before it dries for the perfect fit.

5

Add a brad or button to the center and your flower is done.  For mine, I cut a small button using the Buttons Sizzlit with my Big Shot and then added a 5/16" White Neutrals Brad to the center.

5a
I added my flower to a little gift box that I cut out with the Matchbox Die and my Big Shot.  I sponged a piece of the Presto Patterns DSP with Poppy Parade Ink for the lid of the box.

6

Inside, I have a pair of earrings that I am giving to a friend.

8 9

I love making cards but with Stampin' Up!'s coordinating products, you can make so many different things. The Matchbox die is great for making small gift boxes.  Check out these fun ways I used the Matchbox Die, Gift for LisaMini Purse, Mini Dresser.

Simply Sent Kits - Sweet Hello

When I received my NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog last month, this was one of the first things I put on my wish list.  It is a new Simply Sent Card Kit called Sweet Hello.  The kit comes with 8 printed, embossed notecards and these adorable little self adhesive pink ribbon flowers with pearl centers for only $11.95.  The Thanks greeting is from a Summer Mini set called Watercolor Trio.
SweethellocardMy first card with the kit took me all of 30 seconds to complete.  For  my second card, I wanted to use a different embellishment and chose the Subtles Flower Brads.  The brads are a bit heavier than the ribbon flowers, so I decided to cut off the back of the notecard and layer it on a Baja Breeze card base.  I changed the orientation of the card and added a greeting from On Your Birthday

Sweethellocard1 You might notice that the middles of the Subtles Flower Brads are white.  They do not come that way. I added a bit of Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in Moonlight #119969.  So not only are the white, they have a nifty shimmer. :-)  You can click on the images to view them larger.

Make Your Own Rubber Stamps with the Big Shot

Today is my HUGE Buy One Get One FREE Open House. Stop by anytime from 9-2 to see new catalog products and new samples and make three projects.  Cost to attend is $10

Now onto todays project, if you don't have the Big Shot Machine, this just may sway you to get one!!  On page 206 of the NEW CATALOG, there is a picture of a keepsake frame box with a rubber stamp in the bottom left space.  That is not a stamp in the catalog and I started wondering where in the heck did that come from, it certainly cannot be retired.  After a little searching, I found it!!

Simnplenumbersrubberstamp Flowerstamp

It is an image on the Simple Numbers Big Shot Die set, see it on page 207.  When I mount my stamps,

TIP:I save some of the bigger left over rubber pieces as I know they will be useful sometime!!

I got a few rubber scraps out, placed them on the die and ran it through my Big Shot, the stem is fragile so do be careful with it.  After I cut out the pieces, I mounted them onto an extra wood block I had.  Then I used my new stamp to make some super simple Love Notes. :-)  These are just the cutest mini cards!!  They are 3 x 6 folded in half.

Flowerstampgroup

TIP: Since I mounted the flower middle at the opposite end of the block, I could easily add it in any color to the other stamped image.  I colored the flower and leaves with my Stampin' Write Markers.

I just love it when I can recycle. :-)

Supplies:
Stamps - Barb's Flower, Fundamental Phrases
Card Stock - Whisper White
