Alaska - Day 2 at Sea!

The first full day we were at sea sailing to Ketchikan.  The General Session was in the morning and the boat was rockin!!  There were a few less attendees as some people were seasick.  I felt pretty lucky as I have never been seasick.

IMG_1404
IMG_1407
During the session, there was a guessing game about the Corporate Team Members and we found out that Shelli loves to drive fast...a woman after my own heart!!

IMG_1409
Here she is demonstrating some goodies for us, this little box is made from the ring on the inside of the glue dots.

Shelligluedotbox
We learned that there were about 250 cruise achievers and a total of 633 people associated with Stampin' Up! on the ship.  We also got a copy of the NEW CATALOG!!!  I am sworn to secrecy and had to look at it up in my cabin as we were asked not to have it out in public. :-)

We spun the wheel in the Trading Post and I won some Antique Brads, we took a few pics of a display board and the rest of the day we just hung out with friends.  Tomorrow, I will post a few pics of Ketchikan so be sure to come back.

Important things to remember:

Home....finally!!

We are finally home, it was a long and wonderful trip and as much as I hated it to end, I am glad to be home.  There was alot of flooding while we were gone and we were dreading what we might find when we got home.  Thankfully, we didn't have any!!  I cannot wait to share some of the photos I took and I will start with our first day.

IMG_1384

Here are Mike, Tom, Tom and Joe.  We were on the back deck of the ship as we sailed away from Seattle.

After we sailed out of Seattle, it was time for the first of MANY meals in the Oceanview Grill.  Here we are with our dear friends Tom and Sandy, Tom and Lori and Tom's parents Joe and Evelyn.  Joe and Evelyn are such dear people, I am so glad we got to hang out with them for the week.

IMG_1400
Then we were off to the evening show and saw these wonderful performers, Jocka and Maria.

Purse
Finally got back to the room to find this little beauty on my bed.  The first of many pillow gifts was this adorable gray mini purse.  It was the perfect size to hold everything I needed when we were off on our excursions.

Fabfloretsyellow
I will leave you with a fabulous card from the Trading Post (a room on the ship where SU had the wheel, guessing game and many samples)

Thanks for looking and I will be back tomorrow with some more pictures for you. :-)

Technique Geeks - Clear Block Stamping

Sailawayblockgroup

This is another technique we learned at my May Technique Geeks Class.  Clear Block Stamping is just the coolest thing and the Sail Away stamp is the perfect image for it.

I dug out my dusty Define Your Life set and used it on this card.  I just thought the "journey" definition fit really well with the feel of these cards.

We took a piece of Not Quite Navy DSP from the Regals Patterns Stack and added a strip of the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets before running it through the Tasteful Trim Die.  This made it super easy to attach the Zig Zag Trim strip.

Sailawayblockclose Did you know that the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets package includes twelve 12x12 sheets, that is a mere $1.25 per sheet.  What a bargain!!!

Rich Razzleberry Bonnet Gift Container

Scallopcirclebonnettrazzleberryclosed

Remember my Mother's Day Bonnet Gift Container?  Well here is another one using some of our Rich Razzleberry Satin Ribbon!!  This ribbon is just the yummiest stuff out there.  It is so soft and ties like a dream.

I wrapped it around my empty embellishment container using Sticky Strip and then added a faux bow where the ends met.  The lid has a nifty flower made from the same ribbon.

Scallopcirclebonnetrazzlid You take a 16" piece of Satin Ribbon and cut it in 1" increments from edge to almost the other edge.  Cut a circle out of our Sticky Pages or the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets and wrap the ribbon around the circle ending in the middle.  Using your Heat Tool, heat the edges of the ribbon until it starts to curl and you get this stinkin' cute accent.

Order the supplies to make this project here.

Supplies:
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
Accessories: Big Shot Machine, Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die, 2 1/2 Circle Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Empty Embellishment Container, Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, Circles #2 Originals Die
Embellishments: Rich Razzleberry Satin Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones

I think they were a big hit!!!

Be a Big Shot at Home Project

Islandfloralcard

My Big Shot at Home Classes went out arlie this week and this is one of the projects that the gals will be making in the comfort of their own homes!

It is a 3D Card using the Island Floral Bigz die with a stacked button in the middle.  The gals will get all the pieces to make the card and they will add their own stamps and ink.

I used the Teahouse background stamp and the Happy Greetings set from the Summer Mini on my card.

Islandfloralflowerclose The stacked button is simple to make.  I punched four 1" circles out of Daffodil Delight and then punched out two 3/4 circles.  I then slid the 1" Punch over the holes created by the 3/4" punch and punched creating two rings.  I stacked the four solid circles and the two rings onto each other using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Punch two holes in the middle with a Crop-a-dile and add some White Baker's Twine.  Super Easy.  I hope the gals enjoy making this card as much as I enjoyed designing it. :-)

Today I am sailing to Alaska for the Stampin' Up! Incentive trip and to thank you all, I am offering a Cruise Special, check it out and save yourself some money on your Stampin' Supplies.

Another Vertical or Horizontal

Simplefriendshipmelonhoriz
I made this card and then I wondered how it would look in the vertical orientation so I flipped it.  I used the Simple Friendship (#113398 $18.37) stamp set, which is one of the stamp sets on sale for 30% off this month!!!

Check out my Perfect Knot video to learn how I make my knots.

Simplefriendshipmelonvert

I used some of the new Colored Embossing Powders on this card.  My color combination came off the Color Coach.  After I embossed the friend image with the Melon Mambo Embossing Powder, I added a bit of color with my markers and a blender pen.

Leave a comment and let me know which way you think it looks best.

Supplies:
Stamps: Simple Friendship - 30% off this month!!
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Versamark
Accessories: 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Circles #2 Bigz Die, Blender Pens, Heat Tool

Playful Polka Dots Bookmark Gifts

Allholidaysbookmarks

Aren't these just adorable!  They are bookmarks and I plan to package them in our small cello bags.  I used a  4 1/2 x 3 piece of Rose Red card stock and put the Word Window Punch in all the way to create the slot.  I moved it slightly to both sides to make it wide enough.  The striped layer is 1 x 2 3/4.  I ran the bottom of it through the Big Shot with the new Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

The Old Olive bookmark is done with the Two Tags Bigz Die and the Big Shot Machine and it is scored at 2 1/2 from the scallop edge to fold it.  I added a Daffodil Delight 1 3/4 Scallop Circle, a 1 3/8 Circle of Rose Red and a 1 1/4 Circle of the Polka Dot Designer Series Paper.  Both this Polka Dot DSP and the Striped DSP come in the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit.  The greeting is from All Holidays and is stamped in Rose Red.

I have two 1 x 1 squares of our Magnet Sheets attached to the back of the bookmark to keep it closed on a page.

Stakes for the Garden Big Shot Style!!!

Roofflashingstake Lookie at what I made.....a Garden Stake!!!  With your Big Shot Machine, some roof flashing and a stake, you can create some too.

I purchased a roll of roof flashing at my local hardward store.  It is also available in 5x7 sheets.  I cut pieces of the roof flashing with our Craft & Rubber Scissors, ran them through the Big Shot with a variety of our Textured Impressions Embossing Folders and then chose a few Bigz dies for my shapes.  I had better luck emobssing first and then cutting.

I used the Crop-a-dile to punch the holes and a hot glue gun to attach my layers so we shall see how it holds up. :-)  The two pieces are attached to a Sign Holder post that I found in the same hardware store for about a buck.

I colored my Basic Pearls with a black sharpie marker before adding them to the butterflies and the Antique Brad is poked all the way through the flowers.

Here are some close-ups of each piece, click on them to make them larger:

Roofflashingflower
 Roofflashingscallop

Roofflashingstakeout I put it in a whiskey barrell I have in the front yard and now it greets my visitors along with my garden flag.  If we ever get spring around here, I will get my flowers back in this pot!!

I found this idea by Laura Haffke on the Stampin' Connection website for demonstrators.  There are so many ideas on that site and it is just one more reason to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Right now you can join my team of demonstrators all over the country with our Digital + Starter Kit at a 30% savings AND get a FREE stamp set from me out of the new catalog in July.  Read about it here and email/call me with any questions you may have.  I would love to chat with you about the best job in the world!!!
