July 2011 Control Freaks Blog Tour - Christmas in July!

Welcome to the July 2011 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are featuring Christmas in July Projects.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from my friend LeeAnn Greff's blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  Note:  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

This tour is just what I needed to jump start my mojo.  My Frozen Shoulder does seem to be getting a bit better and I think the cortisone shot is relieving some of my constant pain.  What a relief as I needed to get some stamping done. :-)

I love sets that have something for every holiday and that is why I had to have the NEW set called Easy Events W116958 or C123225.  The font really appeals to me and I just love simple line art images.  I stamped the image in Chocolate Chip, colored it in with my Real Red and Wild Wasabi Markers, and punched it out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.  The 2nd layer is from the Circles #2 Big Shot die and the wonderful Real Red scallop is from the BRAND NEW Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die 123126.

I stamped a piece of Chocolate Chip with the Stripes Mini Background Stamp and punched it with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch 122362.  The 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon was then weaved through the holes.  I sponged my layer with Wild Wasabi and mounted it onto my card base of the same color.

Onboardmerrymedley My next project features the On Board Merry Medley ChipboardOn Board Sheets and the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper to create some Christmas Tree Ornaments.  The Merry Medley chipboard coordinates with our Pennant Parade stamp set and the Petite Pennants Builder Punch.  Pennants can be flipped to become Christmas Trees!!

I used the white card board sheets that comes in our packs of Designer Series Paper for the base as I wanted something a bit thicker than paper.  I covered one with some Letters to Santa DSP and the other with Chocolate Chip Textured card stock.  The next layer is a piece of the Letters to Santa DSP adhered to a piece of the On Board Chipboard Sheets and cut with the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die 120903.

Scallopduo25ornament I used Craft Ink on the Merry Medley chipboard pieces, the numbers were sponged with Cherry Cobbler Craft Ink, covered with Clear Embossing Powder and Heat Embossed. The scallop pennant piece of the tree was covered with Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and heat set without the embossing powder.  You get different looks with the same ink.

I added my small chipboard pieces to the Scallop with Scallopduotreeornament Multi Purpose Adhesive and ran the same adhesive along the edges of both ornaments and added our Glass Stampin' Glitter, the Champagne 120997 on the 25 ornament and the Silver 120995 on the tree ornament.  To hang them on the tree, I punched a hole in the top with my Crop-a-dile and used our White Baker's Twine and the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Very Vanilla.  I also added some Neutrals Designer Buttons and Basic Rhinestones.

That does it for me, your next stop is the super talented Cindy Major and I am sure you will love what she has to share.

Thanks for visiting!!!!
