For the Men - Golden Wheat

Autumndaysgoldwheat

My monthly card class is so much fun and I am not just talking about the guests having fun, I mean me!  It gives me the opportunity to create five simple but fabulous cards.

This card was a huge hit at my September card class.  The focus was "It's Raining Men" and all five cards had a manly theme.  My next monthly card class is Thursday, November 3rd at 6:00.  If you are in the Sheridan, Wyoming area, come join us!!

MochamorningFor this card, we used the Autumn Days stamp set to stamp the wheat in Versamark and cover it with Gold Embossing Powder.  It is very striking.  The Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper has this fabulous striped paper in the pack and it just made the other neutral elements come together.

Delicatedoilieslimeglass

This card is one my gals did at a Technqiue Geek Class.  I used the Color Coach to choose my colors and I have to say, I love these colors together.  They are Riding Hood Red, Perfect Plum and Lucky Limeade.

We used the Delicate Doilies set and some of the 2011-2012 In Color Patterns Stack.  Can I get a big WAHOO for the Perfect Plum 3/8 Taffeta Ribbon!!

Spice Cake Fall Page

Spicecakepage

Here is a scrapbook page I made with the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper, the Gently Falling stamp set, the Triple Treat Flower, my Big Shot Machine and the Simple Letters Alphabet set.

I stamped the background in More Mustard with the Gently Falling set and added a couple of photo mats.  The Triple Treat Flower was stamped three times on Very Vanilla.  Once in Pool Party, once in More Mustard and once in Soft Suede.  Each part of the flower was punched with a different punch to give it this cool three tone look.

Warmest of Wishes Owl Treat

This is one of the projects my club gals had the opportunity to make last month.  We used the Warmest of Wishes stamp set that is one of your hostess choices with a $150 party/order.

Warmestwishesowltreat

The colors in the Autumn M&M's bag match some of our card stocks.  We used More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.

All three colors of card stock were stamped with Early Espresso Classic Ink.  The owl was punched out with the Owl Builder Punch and the mask and treat sack were cut with the Paper Snips and glued to the owl.

The 1x8 cello bags were filled using a Candy Slide (a piece of card stock cut to 8 x 1 1/2 and scored right down the middle) which makes this process go very quickly.

Candyslide

We added 12 M&M's and then folded the little cello bag on itself.  Two 1 3/4 circle punches were stapled around the top of the bag and the owl was added with Stampin' Dimensionals to hide the staple on the front.

These are super quick treats and the gals loved them.  I have a few extra and I will be handing them out this week. :-)

Little Scallop Pumpkin Treats

My friend Jan stopped by yesterday and dropped off one of these stinkin' cute treats for each of my kids.  I immediately had to run down to the stamp room and make some more.

Reesespumpkinjan
Luckily, I have a stash of chocolate in the cupboard and the Reeses Mini Peanut Butter Cups were plentiful. :-)

Here are the ones I made:

ReesespumpkingroupReesespumpkinsingle

and a side view

Reesespumpkinside
I used a Sponge Dauber to add some ink to the edges and added some texture with the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The face was stamped prior to sending the scallops through the folder and it comes from the Jack of All Trades stamp set.  I had a few scraps of different green ribbons so I used ups some of those.  I love it when I can use up some scraps!!!

Here are the instructions:
Punch two 1 3/4 scallops from Pumpkin Pie card stock and cut about four scallops off each one
Stamp the pumpkin face of your choice in Basic Black on one
Run the scallops through the Stripes Folder
Add the snippet (about 2") of ribbon to the scallops with glue dots
Put two glue dots on the the small end of the peanut butter cup and press it onto the back side of the pumpkin
Add a dimensional to the other scallop and attach it to the top of the peanut butter cup

Order your supplies to make these super cute treats in my Online Store and while you are there be sure to check out the Clearance Rack.

Supplies:
Stamps: Jack of All Trades (W#122620, C#122622)

Witches Boot Halloween Treat

Join my Be a Big Shot at Home series of classes and you can make really cool projects like this one in the comfort of your own home.  The next round starts November 15th.

Stockingwitchgroup
I am participating in a swap with some of my customers next week and this is my Halloween Treat.  I used the Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die to create the boot and added a 3 1/2" circle die to the toe.  The boot cuff is one of the flocked patterns in the Mocha Morning DSP pack.

Stockingwitchtag

I added a tag to all the boots after I took the group picture, I stamped the image from Grateful Greetings in Versamark and sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder on half, tapped off and then added Black Embossing Powder to the rest.  I think it is kinda cool. :-)

October 2011 Control Freaks Blog Tour - Wrap It Up!

CFwelcome

Welcome to the October 2011 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today.

This month we are featuring Wrap it Up -- Bows, Boxes and Bags for the Holidays.  I decided to use the Savor the Season Ensemble Content CD with My Digital Studio.  This is available as a hostess exclusive item when you host a party or place a qualifying Stampin' Up! order.

Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from my friend Jan Tink's blog, you may be one of my blog stalkers or you may have just stumbled here…however you got here, you’ll be very glad you did!  Be sure to take the whole tour!  Note:  If you are arriving here on the 19th, please note that not all links may be working yet.  The tour officially begins on the 20th.

SavortheseasongroupThis is my group of goodies.  It includes a decorated gift bag, a small box of cookies and a decorated gift box with paper bow.

For the bag, I used my computer to make the Designer Series Paper.  I added a page layer in My Digital Studio, printed it out and cut it to size.  I cut some scallop strips with the Tasteful Trim die in Cherry Cobbler as accent pieces to the printed strip.  The scallop circle and Ho, Ho, Ho are both done with big shot dies and the Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon finishes it off.

SavortheseasonbowThe Kraft Gift Box is stamped with the Serene Snowflakes set in Whisper White Craft Ink and allowed to dry.  I made the bow by adding the long punches in My Digital Studio and filling them with two Designer Series Papers included on the CD.  They were printed, cut and folded to create the bow.   I wrapped the box in our beautiful White Organza Ribbon and placed the bow on top with Mini Glue Dots.

SavortheseasoncookieboxMy final project is the little treat box.  The template is included on the CD and you can play with the sizing.  I filled it with yet another Designer Series Paper included on the content CD.  I printed it, cut it out and assembled it with Mini Glue Dots.  The Island Indigo paper strip around the box as well as the tag were also created in MDS, printed and cut out.  I did add a strip of Cherry Cobbler punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch, a bit of the Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon to the corner of the tag and a Pearl to the center of the snowflake on the tag so this qualifies as a Hybrid Project. :-)

That does it for me, your next stop is my dear friend Patty Bennett and I am sure you will love what she has to share.

Peekaboo!!!

PeekabooframesskeleetonboxI made this little treat with the Matchbox Bigz XL Die, the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die and my Big Shot.

Get a FREE Big Shot or $100 in product when you Join My Team in October.

The greeting is from one of my favorite sets this time of year, Grateful Greetings.  I inked part of the greeting with my Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers and punched it out with the Postage Stamp Punch

I punched with the image near the bottom.

IMG_2756

Then I attached a little card stock handle to it

IMG_2757

Insert it into the punch again and line it up near the top of the inked image taking care to keep the edges in line.

IMG_2758

Here is your mini postage stamp!

IMG_2759

ItsawrapholiayseekI stamped the ghost image from Spooky Bingo Bits in Basic Black and punched it out with the 1" Square Punch.  His eyes are Basic Rhinestones and look really cool in person.

The little window is one of the die cuts on the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die that is in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I have four yummy Hershey's Nuggets inside wrapped with the Halloween stamp from the It's a Wrap Holidays set, also in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Q&A - Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

Cookiepress

I have had some questions from my blog readers and Facebook Followers regarding the NEW Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps so I thought a little Q&A would help:

Q: Do you have to refrigerate the dough?

A: I know that many recipes recommend refrigeration of the dough, however, I don't and it is simply because I just don't have the time or the patience to wait and all of my cookies have turned out great. :-)

Q: How do you keep the dough from sticking in the stamps?

A: I make the dough and roll it into 1 1/2" balls or use my large cookie scoop.  I then dip the cookie stamp in a bowl of granulated sugar before pressing it into the dough.  The sugar keeps the stamp from sticking to the dough and if you get more sugar on a cookie it just tastes a little better right. :-)

Q: How do you clean your cookie stamps?

A: I use a little soapy water and my hands on the stamps and a damp cloth to wipe off the handle.  You can put the stamps in the dishwasher but I prefer to hand wash them.  Do not put the wood handle in the dishwasher.

Q: Can you use any recipe?

A: So far, I have tried three, two with a leavening agent (baking soda or baking powder) and one without and I have had great results with all three.  Here are my pics:

SugarcookiespackagedCookiemix
These cookies are my first attempt and they are made with a package of sugar cookie mix that does include Baking Soda (a leavening agent), I think they turned out great.  These were treats for the gals who came and stamped with me last weekend.

Penutbuttercookies
Second batch were my Peanut Butter cookies with a leavening agent - these melt in your mouth!!! (see recipe below)  They also turned out GREAT!!

Sugarcookienoagent
For the third batch I used the Sugar Cookie recipe included with the Sweet Presssed Cookie Stamps and I did not refrigerate the dough before stamping on it.  It is one of two recipes included with the stamps.   This recipe does NOT use a leavening agent.  The images are a bit more defined but not enough to make me use this recipe exclusively.

Q: Are they easy to use?

A: Yes they are and if my hubby can do it, anyone can.  My kids love using the stamps and have had a blast helping me.

Q: Where can I buy the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps?

A: From me!!!  You can order them HERE or if you are local to me, I am ordering again soon and you can get your own set for $19.67 delivered to your door.  Email or call me to place your order.

Q: How do you get a clean edge around the cookie?

A: Roll your dough into a 1 1/2" ball and press the stamp into it.  Then use a biscuit cutter to create the smooth edge.

There are all kinds of cookie recipes out there so get your Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps and start baking!!  Kids and husbands find the large handle super easy to use.  Since it is the start of the holiday season, what better gift for friends, family and neighbors than homemake coookies. :-)

As promised, here is my Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe:

Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes

1/2 Crisco Stick - Butter Flavored
2/3 C Peanut Butter - I use Jif Creamy
1/2 C Granulated Sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 egg

1 1/4 C Flour
1/2 t Baking Powder
3/4 t Baking Soda
1/4 t Salt

Cream wet ingredients together.  In separate bowl mix dry ingredients.  Add dry to wet and combine.  I use a large cookie scoop and then press my cookie stamp into the ball....I hear a peanut butter cookie calling my name.....gotta go!!!

Haunted Forest Stair Step Card

I used the Haunted Forest ala carte stamp in the back of the Holiday Mini Catalog to create the main image on this card.

Hauntedforestfancyfold

I stamped the Haunted Forest twice, once on Lucky Limeade and once on Whisper White.  I colored the images stamped on the Whisper White and punched out the colored areas with my circle punches.  I then lined up the punched circles with the image on the Lucky Limeade piece and glued them down.

This is called the spotlighting techniqe.  I did use a Sponge Dauber with Daffodil Delight for the moon and my Stampin' Write Markers for the other coloring.

I also used Wicked Cool, Grateful Greetings and the Simply Scored Tool on this card.
