I have had some questions from my blog readers and Facebook Followers regarding the NEW Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps so I thought a little Q&A would help:
Q: Do you have to refrigerate the dough?
A: I know that many recipes recommend refrigeration of the dough, however, I don't and it is simply because I just don't have the time or the patience to wait and all of my cookies have turned out great. :-)
Q: How do you keep the dough from sticking in the stamps?
A: I make the dough and roll it into 1 1/2" balls or use my large cookie scoop. I then dip the cookie stamp in a bowl of granulated sugar before pressing it into the dough. The sugar keeps the stamp from sticking to the dough and if you get more sugar on a cookie it just tastes a little better right. 🙂
Q: How do you clean your cookie stamps?
A: I use a little soapy water and my hands on the stamps and a damp cloth to wipe off the handle. You can put the stamps in the dishwasher but I prefer to hand wash them. Do not put the wood handle in the dishwasher.
Q: Can you use any recipe?
A: So far, I have tried three, two with a leavening agent (baking soda or baking powder) and one without and I have had great results with all three. Here are my pics:
These cookies are my first attempt and they are made with a package of sugar cookie mix that does include Baking Soda (a leavening agent), I think they turned out great. These were treats for the gals who came and stamped with me last weekend.
Second batch were my Peanut Butter cookies with a leavening agent - these melt in your mouth!!! (see recipe below) They also turned out GREAT!!
For the third batch I used the Sugar Cookie recipe included with the Sweet Presssed Cookie Stamps and I did not refrigerate the dough before stamping on it. It is one of two recipes included with the stamps. This recipe does NOT use a leavening agent. The images are a bit more defined but not enough to make me use this recipe exclusively.
Q: Are they easy to use?
A: Yes they are and if my hubby can do it, anyone can. My kids love using the stamps and have had a blast helping me.
Q: Where can I buy the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps?
A: From me!!! You can order them HERE or if you are local to me, I am ordering again soon and you can get your own set for $19.67 delivered to your door. Email or call me to place your order.
Q: How do you get a clean edge around the cookie?
A: Roll your dough into a 1 1/2" ball and press the stamp into it. Then use a biscuit cutter to create the smooth edge.
There are all kinds of cookie recipes out there so get your Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps and start baking!! Kids and husbands find the large handle super easy to use. Since it is the start of the holiday season, what better gift for friends, family and neighbors than homemake coookies. 🙂
As promised, here is my Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe:
Thanks so much for the question and answers! Great resource for you customers. And thanks for the recipe! I will try it.
Thank you, Barb! I am not a good baker, so I’m going to try the Sugar Cookie Mix – glad to see they DO work well with a leavening recipe. TFS
Want to try out your Peanut Butter Receipe, only thing is how much is 1/2 Crisco Stick. I’m in Canada and we don’t have this. Thanks
