Technique Geeks – Soot Stamping & Pop ‘n Cuts

When I saw the Feeling Sentimental set in the Sale-a-bration Brochure, I knew it would be perfect for soot stamping.  I don't do it alot but Soot Stamping is really cool!!  Wew learned this technique at my February Technique Geeks Class, my March Class is this Saturday, the 9th in Sheridan, Wyoming.  If you are in the area and would like to join us, let me know.

The Feeling Sentimental set is a collection of nostalgic images that are really easy to work with.  They are perfect for motion staming and can certainly be used alone with no coloring.  You can get this set FREE with a $50 order placed in my Online Store at www.shoppingwithbarb.com

Each time you do the technique, you get a different result.

Basic instructions: Cut a piece of Glossy White card stock and wave it glossy side down slowly through the flame of a candle.  when the piece is covered with the soot, you take a clean rubber stamp and press it into the soot.  Carefully remove it and spray the card stock with a Clear Matte Sealer.  Attach it to your project.

BARB'S TIP: Hold the card stock by the edges as it is easy to smudge or get fingerprints in the soot.

This card also uses the Pop 'n Cuts Card Base.  You can see more cards using the Pop 'n Cuts Card Base HERE and HERE.

Our card base is Early Espresso and we added the Tangerine Tango card stock layer and the Tangerine Tango striped DSP from the Sycamore Street DSP (get it FREE with a $50 order) pack before running it through the die.  These Steel Ruled dies can easily cut through mulitple layers of paper.

CollagecuriossootcloseThe Soda Pop Top was flattened with the Big Shot Machine and then we added a few images from the Collage Curios stamp set (order it in Clear #129102 or Wood #129099).  The words were stamped in Tangerine Tango and the Eiffel Tower was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with the Early Espresso Embossing Powder.
